Frequently Asked Questions

Citrus

My citrus leaves have gone yellow, what should I do?
Yellow leaves are usually a sign of lack of Nitrogen. Citrus are heavy feeders and need to be feed four times a year, with a balanced NPK fertilizer. Feed around the drip line (edge of leaves) not at the base of the tree.

Watering citrus fruit as they flower is critical to make sure you have juicy fruit.

This is scale and can be controlled with conqueror oil. The scale excrete a sweet substance that attracts the ants so by destroying the scale you will get rid of the ants.

Best time is from mid June through to July. It pays to spray with copper when pruned as this will do a general clean up of fungicide.

Why have my rose leaves have gone yellow and have black spots?
This is a fungus called black spot. Clear all old leaves from around roses and spray with rose shield and this will also control any insects.

How do I prune roses?
Always prune to an outward facing bud. Remove damaged disease and spindly stems. Then remove any stems crossing over or growing inwards. Cut remaining stems by half. Always make cuts on 45 degree angle away from the bud. Make sure you have sharp cutters so you don’t crush the stems.
